Welcome...

to Parma N.Y., and welcome to the Parma Democratic Committee Web page! We represent a cross section of registered Democrats in Parma. Our committee was formed and officially recognized with 4 charter members in May of 2006, since then we have grown 400% and counting. In the 2006 election cycle we were active in a local town race and congressional races with get out the vote drives and phone banks and voter registration.

We made our debut at the Hilton Fireman's Carnival and the Hilton Apple Fest alerting the community of our presence. Our Town Council candidate in the 2006 special election Joe Rittler received 50% of the overall vote losing by only 2 votes after the Parma Republicans brought a lawsuit to the State Supreme Court to suppress 5 absentee ballots that were validated by the County's board of elections. 3 of the 5 ballots were from registered Republicans proving just how far the Republican Party seems capable of going to maintain the status quo in Parma's government. The Parma Democrats stand for Equality, Inclusiveness in government, fair and balanced representation, the protection of open space guarding our rural character and regulated economic growth and development.

We believe community involvement in the Town's government is essential to liberty, and we promote the formation of a citizen led ethics committee, as well as the formation of neighborhood associations, that help oversee the Parma Town Supervisor and Town Board. We believe that the Parma committee will soon become an important part of the wider Monroe County Democratic Party, and have already been labeled by some an outpost for the Democrats on the Westside. We look forward to making Parma an even stronger community and we hope you'll join us! Our regular meetings are held the 4th Thursday of each month at the Hilton Community Center in the Senior Lounge and are open to all Parma residents. Registered Democrats are encouraged to attend and participate in the activities of the Committee.

Thank you,

Nicholas Coffee - Chair
